Can a U-PULL-IT staff member check part availability for a customer in advance or before they come to the U-PULL-IT Yard?

No. Since we are a SELF-SERVE yard, we DO NOT keep track of any parts that were or still are on the vehicles in the yard. Due to the fact that we have no control over which part a customer pulls off a vehicle, we cannot guarantee that a particular part will still be available by the time you come to pull it off. The ONLY way to confirm part availability is to come to the U-PULL-IT Yard.

Can I request that a part be "set aside" or put "on hold" for me?

No. Since we have no control over which part a customer pulls off a vehicle, we CANNOT "set aside" or "hold on to" any parts for a customer. Parts from the U-PULL-IT Yard are considered "First Come, First Serve". NOTE: The ONLY scenario in which we hold onto parts for a customer is once they have PURCHASED the part(s) we can hold them in the office for them to be picked up at a later time.

What do the symbols on the windshields of the vehicles in the U-PULL-IT Yard mean?

The following is a breakdown of all the symbols that you will find on a vehicle in the U-PULL-IT Yard:

  • " P" - This symbol means that a vehicle has been processed. All the environmentally unfriendly compounds such as gasoline, oil, antifreeze, mercury and lead have been removed from the vehicle. This process is done to ALL our vehicles BEFORE they enter the U-PULL-IT Yard.
  • " C#" - This symbol represents how many catalytic converters were on the vehicle when it entered the U-PULL-IT Yard. This number is not always reflective of how many catalytic converters are still on the vehicle. Since we have no control over which parts a customer pull off a vehicle, the number of catalytic converters left on the vehicle may have changed since it entered the U-PULL-IT Yard. NOTE: If you do not see this symbol, that means the vehicle DID NOT have any catalytic converters on it when we purchased the vehicle.
  • " MM/YY" - This symbol represents the month and year in which the vehicle entered the U-PULL-IT Yard.
  • " X" - This symbol means that a vehicle is destined to be taken out of the U-PULL-IT Yard. NOTE: If you see this symbol, pull whatever parts you want off because it is not guaranteed that the vehicle will still be there the next time you come to the U-PULL-IT Yard.

How can I tell what year a vehicle in the U-PULL-IT Yard is?

There are two (2) ways in which you can tell what year a vehicle is:

  1. Manufacture Sticker - When you open up the driver's door, you will find the manufacture sticker on either the door itself or on the shell of the vehicle. On the manufacture sticker, you will find the vehicle's date of manufacture (MM/YY). This, however, does not always accurately tell you what year the vehicle is. Depending on the month it was manufactured, the vehicle may have the following year as its officially designated year. Ex. A vehicle manufactured in November 2019 may have an official year designation of 2020.
  2. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - The VIN is a 17 digit number that can be found on a tag at the base of the windshield on the driver's side as well as on the manufacture sticker. The 10th digit of the VIN represents the year of the vehicle. Since the year designation is only 1 digit, a code is used (alternating between letters and numbers) to represent what year the vehicle is. Below you will find a breakdown of what each digit in the VIN represents as well as a chart that explains the year designation for each code.

What do the size dimensions on a tire represent?

For average everyday driving, the three (3) numbers you need to concern yourself with are the Width, Aspect Ratio and Rim Diameter. These are found in the pattern "# / # R #"

  • Width - This is the width of the tire in millimeters
  • Aspect Ratio - This is ratio for how the width correlates to the height of the tire
  • Rim Diameter - This is the size of the rim (in inches) designated for this particular tire
NOTE: When shopping for tires, you want to find ones that have the same size dimension as what you have on your tires. While it is possible to use tires with different size dimensions, the more you deviate away from your original size the more this will increase the number of other factors you will need to consider.

How do I pull an engine out of a vehicle in the U-PULL-IT Yard?

Once you have disassembled the engine from the vehicle, please visit the office in order to rent out our custom-made engine hoist. The engine hoist is designed to roll over top of the vehicle and sit directly over the engine bay. The hoist also has full-size car wheels in order to properly handle the terrain of the U-PULL-IT Yard. Keep in mind, due to the size, our engine hoist CANNOT be moved by just one (1) person. How do I pull parts off a vehicle in the U-PULL-IT Yard that require battery power?

Due to regulations with regard to auto recycling, all batteries MUST be removed from the vehicles because of the lead and acid content. Unfortunately, these regulations can limit some customers abilities to pull certain electronic parts from the vehicles in the U-PULL-IT Yard. Customers are ALLOWED to bring in their own power source, such as a battery or power pack, in order to put power to the vehicle. This will give you the ability to pull any parts that require some form of battery power. Depending on how complete the vehicle still is, this can also allow you to test certain parts to see if they are working to your satisfaction before you pull them off.

I can't find the part that I'm looking for. Can I order one?

No. At this time, we DO NOT offer a service in which we order parts and have them shipped in for a customer. The ONLY parts we have in stock are the ones found on the vehicles in the U-PULL-IT Yard.

I can't find the vehicle that I'm looking for. How can I be alerted when a new vehicle comes into the U-PULL-IT Yard?

At this time, the ONLY way to know when a new vehicle has entered the U-PULL-IT Yard is to either come down to the yard or check the "Vehicle List" found on our website. We update the "Vehicle List" as soon as a new vehicle is processed and put into the U-PULL-IT Yard.

What is a core charge?

A core charge is a REFUNDABLE fee or deposit placed on certain types of parts that can be recycled or remanufactured in order to encourage the return of old and unwanted parts ("Core"). Once a core is brought in, the fee is then refunded in cash or as an in-store credit note to the customer. If a core is brought in at the time of purchase, the core charge is waived and the customer only pays the price of the part. NOTE: In order to be refunded on a core charge, a customer must bring in a core within 30 Days after the purchase of their part with the corresponding receipt.

What kind of warranty is offered on parts pulled from the U-PULL-IT Yard?

U-PULL-IT offers a FREE 30 Day Exchange Warranty on all parts pulled from the U-PULL-IT Yard, unless it is stated as FINAL SALE. With our exchange warranty, a customer can either find another part of equal value or use it towards the purchase of another part with a greater or lesser value. If the other part is of greater value, the warranty will cover the price of the original part and the remaining amount will be paid by the customer. An in-store credit note has no expiry date and can be used towards any parts found in the U-PULL-IT Yard. NOTE: An in-store credit note can ONLY be used as long as the customer presents it to the cashier at the time of purchase. If a customer does not have their in-store credit note with them, they CANNOT use it to purchase their parts.

What methods of payment are accepted at the U-PULL-IT Yard?

U-PULL-IT accepts Cash, Debit, Visa and Mastercard.

When it comes to batteries, what does "Charged & Tested" mean?

All the batteries that we sell at the U-PULL-IT Yard ONLY come from the vehicles that we purchase from the public. Since most, if not all, of these batteries are used, before we sell them we make sure they are still good for a customer to purchase and reuse. We put ALL our batteries on a 2 hour charge cycle and then we will test them 24 hours later to make sure they have held their charge. If they do, the batteries are brought up to the office for customers to purchase. If they do not, the batteries are recycled through 86 Auto and Metal Recyclers Inc.

Customers come with their OWN containers and fill up as much as they wish to purchase. TIP: Washer fluid and antifreeze on our "Price List" is priced every 4 litres.
