What do the symbols on the windshields of the vehicles in the U-PULL-IT Yard mean?
The following is a breakdown of all the symbols that you will find on a vehicle in the U-PULL-IT Yard:
-
" P" - This symbol means that a vehicle has been processed. All the environmentally unfriendly compounds such as gasoline, oil, antifreeze, mercury and lead have been removed from the vehicle. This process is done to ALL our vehicles BEFORE they enter the U-PULL-IT Yard. -
" C#" - This symbol represents how many catalytic converters were on the vehicle when it entered the U-PULL-IT Yard. This number is not always reflective of how many catalytic converters are still on the vehicle. Since we have no control over which parts a customer pull off a vehicle, the number of catalytic converters left on the vehicle may have changed since it entered the U-PULL-IT Yard. NOTE: If you do not see this symbol, that means the vehicle DID NOT have any catalytic converters on it when we purchased the vehicle. -
" MM/YY" - This symbol represents the month and year in which the vehicle entered the U-PULL-IT Yard. -
" X" - This symbol means that a vehicle is destined to be taken out of the U-PULL-IT Yard. NOTE: If you see this symbol, pull whatever parts you want off because it is not guaranteed that the vehicle will still be there the next time you come to the U-PULL-IT Yard.
How can I tell what year a vehicle in the U-PULL-IT Yard is?
There are two (2) ways in which you can tell what year a vehicle is:
-
Manufacture Sticker - When you open up the driver's door, you will find the manufacture sticker on either the door itself or on the shell of the vehicle. On the manufacture sticker, you will find the vehicle's date of manufacture (MM/YY). This, however, does not always accurately tell you what year the vehicle is. Depending on the month it was manufactured, the vehicle may have the following year as its officially designated year. Ex. A vehicle manufactured in November 2019 may have an official year designation of 2020. -
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - The VIN is a 17 digit number that can be found on a tag at the base of the windshield on the driver's side as well as on the manufacture sticker. The 10th digit of the VIN represents the year of the vehicle. Since the year designation is only 1 digit, a code is used (alternating between letters and numbers) to represent what year the vehicle is. Below you will find a breakdown of what each digit in the VIN represents as well as a chart that explains the year designation for each code.

What do the size dimensions on a tire represent?
For average everyday driving, the three (3) numbers you need to concern yourself with are the Width, Aspect Ratio and Rim Diameter. These are found in the pattern "# / # R #"
-
Width - This is the width of the tire in millimeters -
Aspect Ratio - This is ratio for how the width correlates to the height of the tire -
Rim Diameter - This is the size of the rim (in inches) designated for this particular tire
